What is a Baptist Church

We are a Baptist church because the Bible clearly demonstrates that there are for the New Testament Christian but two ordinances to be observed.
The first is Communion or as some prefer the Lord's Supper or Table and the second is Baptism. That the Lord clearly instructed converts to the Christian Faith to be baptised is not in dispute or doubt, Matthew 28 v 19 and Mark 16 v 15,16. Neither is there any dispute that this was indeed the practice of the early church and Apostles, Acts 2 v 38, 41, Acts 8 v 12, 13, 1 Corinthians1 v 13-16.
The issue in church circles and for individual believers is, what is the biblical mode of baptism? Sprinkling/ pouring or immersion? We as Baptists believe the only mode that does justice to the biblical pictures baptism is intended to portray i.e. cleansing, Acts 22 v 16, and resurrection, Romans 16 v 4, Colossians 2 v 12, is full immersion. Sprinkling or pouring may demonstrate cleansing from sin but could not possibly illustrate death to the old life and resurrection to a new life in Christ. Only immersion does justice to both pictures.
