Whitley Wood Reformed Baptist Church, Reading

Beliefs and Practices

We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God and that the way of salvation is through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ accompanied by true repentance. Therefore emphasis is placed on teaching from the Bible for believers as well as evangelistic preaching for those who are seeking the truth.

The church adheres to the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith which gives a comprehensive summary of Biblical doctrines and practices. The mode of public worship is traditional and ordered, consisting of prayer, hymn singing, Bible reading and a preaching service which is normally led by the pastor. The purpose of the worship is to praise and honour God and give Biblical instruction for the members of the congregation.

Twice each month a short communion service concludes the morning worship and all who are true believers and have a credible profession of faith are invited to attend.

The concept of an active evangelistic local church is held and as such there is effort made to invite people from the local neighbourhood to the services as well as actively encouraging children and young people to attend the Sunday School and weeknight youth meetings.
